List seven songs you are into right now, no matter what the genre, whether they have words, or even if they're not any good but they must be songs you're really enjoying now. Post these instructions in your LiveJournal along with your seven songs. Then tag seven other people to see what they're listening to.

1) You're Gonna Go Far, Kid, by The Offspring
2) There's a Good Reason These Tables Are Numbered Honey, You Just Haven't Thought of it Yet, by Panic! At The Disco
3) Time to Dance, by Panic! At The Disco
4) Sparks of the Tempest, by Kansas
5) What it is, by Mark Knopfler
6) Was I?, by Madeleine Peyroux
7) Blue Collar Man, by Styx

Consider yourself tagged, if you so choose. :-)

Throwing in a YAY! for Mark Knopfler. Love his stuff.

Also: I can't do the meme just now because I'm still in the process of absorbing the latest Tragically Hip CD at the cellular level, which means it's sort of taken over my brain at present. Great record, fortunately. Much love.

I have TONS of Dire Straits and Mark Knopfler on my iPod. :-) Love, love *LOVE* him.

Me, too, ditto, and likewise, though I was incredibly slow coming to the party and only "discovered" Knopfler early this year. (What... three decades behind? Oy.) But now I have everything he's ever released plus a few bootleg concert DVDs that I got from a guy in the UK. *fangirls*

I will never forget listening to the Sailing to Philadelphia CD for the first time. AMAZING. Such a love letter to America, all its people and all its geography and all its history. I got the happy shivers when I realized how it travels from England to the east coast of America and then crosses the continent, east to west, while traveling back and forth in time. Remarkable work.

One of my *favorite* cds of all time. Do America is one of the best "driving" songs I've ever heard. :-)

Agreed! :-D

Do you have "One More Matinee"? It was only on the UK release of that CD, and "Do America" was only on the US release. (Weird.) Anyway, it's awesome, so in case you're missing it:

Change "hxxps" to "https" as usual. Link good for 14 days or 200 downloads, so if anyone else wants it, help yourself.

She's got an incredible voice. That one's on her Dreamland cd. Um... I think that's the name of it. It's somewhere in the black hole that is my kid's room. :-)

I love her version of Walking After Midnight, too.

hmmm, I'll see if the library has her then. I haven't picked up any new music/artists in a long time.

Have you listened to Jane Monheit? She has a lovely jazzy/blues sound, does a beautiful version "Over the Rainbow" on the album I have.

Pink Martini is a great eclectic group to try out, I think you can listen to song samples on amazon. 'Hang on Little Tomato' was the first album I heart & still the most listened to.

Don't know Jane Monheit, but I'll check her out. I love jazzy/blues. Do you know Susanna McCorkle? Check out her "The People That You Never Get to Love" cd. Such an incredible talent. It's a shame she died fairly young.
